During the visit, the provider reviews symptoms, asks clinical questions, performs a visual assessment, and gives treatment recommendations. If needed, they can prescribe medications or determine if in-person evaluation is required.
When should I use telemedicine instead of going to the ER?
Telemedicine is ideal for non-life-threatening medical concerns where quick evaluation is helpful. Common examples include minor infections, medication questions, skin issues, changes in chronic conditions, respiratory symptoms that are not severe, flu/cold, substance or alcohol use disorder or concern after a minor injury. If red-flag symptoms are present such as chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, or major trauma an in-person emergency evaluation is required.
